Obituary for Robert R. Riedl

Robert R.  Riedl
Age 87, of Menomonee Falls, Wis., passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home. He was born June 5, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Julius and Margaret (nee Bella) Riedl. Bob was a proud graduate of Messmer High School and Marquette University, where he made lifelong friendships with his brothers from Triangle Fraternity. He married Rita Mae Derse on June 6, 1953. As a Sales Engineer Bob represented several companies in his 50 year career. Bob and Rita loved their cottage on Riley’s Point in Door County. They also enjoyed international travel, visiting many foreign countries. Bob was devoted to his church having served in many capacities during his more than 55 year commitment to St. Anthony’s Church and School, Menomonee Falls. His happiest times were visits with his family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years; his five children, Robert J. (Joyce) Riedl, Daniel (Rick Stabler) Riedl, Ruthann (Shane) Driscoll, Patricia (Daniel) Reinke, and John (Cornelia) Riedl; six grandchildren, Renee (Ryan) Wojtkiewicz, Kimberly (Craig) Wesley, Ellen Reinke, Margaret Davis, Laura Reinke and Elizabeth Davis; also survived by five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Nora and Jax Wojtkiewicz and Grant and Grace Wesley. He is also survived by his brother, Julius J. Riedl of Henderson, Nev.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, N74 W13604 Appleton Avenue, Menomonee Falls. A visitation will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials in Bob’s name may be made to Messmer High School or St. Anthony’s Building Fund.

Our home was warm and comfortable. The yard was always landscaped and playable. Our cars ran well and were safe. Our education was a priority and the path to successful careers. And our commitment to God and service to His loved ones made us good people. Thank you, Dad.
