She was born on July 16,1922 to Edward and Isabelle (Schottler) Mertens in Withee, WI. Growing up on the family's dairy farm, she graduated from Withee High School in 1940. She left the farm to pursue employment opportunities as a waitress, house cleaner
and an assembly worker in an ammunition plant during World War II. While single, she crashed a wedding with a friend and met the bride's brother Delphin (Del) Andryszck who later became her husband. Mary and Del married on her birthday in 1955 at Jesuit Parish in Milwaukee, WI. They had three loving children Carl, Bruce, and Karen. She had a passion for taking care of her family and making people laugh.
Mary and Del retired to Florida in 1977, where she enjoyed being close to family, playing Bingo, traveling and hurricane parties. Later in life she lived with her daughter Karen and her husband Tim Durnin and her grandsons Timothy Del and Matthew (Matty). She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and being a huge part of their lives. Mary took pleasure in many visits from her sons. She always looked forward to going out to lunch when Bruce and his wife Anne came to town. Mary also celebrated many birthdays and trips to Las Vegas with them. She had a very strong faith in Jesus and will be very missed by all who knew her. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Delphin Andryszcyk; brother Clarence Mertens and her son, Carl Andryszcyk.
