Joann and family...My connection to your family has been through coaching Abby for four years (and having Ben help out at our practices this past year) but what a wonderful connection. You and Dan had been in our corner 100% of the time and I'll never forget Dan encouraging us coaches to "toughen up" his daughter over these past four years. Little did anyone know how prophetic Dan might have been. I for one am so grateful to have met all of you and can only wish for comfort and healing for your family. Dan and I had many mutual friends back in high school, though I went to Pius and he to Tosa East. He always struck me as a very fun, very caring guy. In our twenties, I often ran in to him at Park Avenue, the old disco, and he always made me wait with him til my other friends arrived, or walked me to my car. He was very sweet and protective. Later, our paths crossed again, as I was surprised to find him baby sitting for my best friends little ones. It turned out he was really close friends with her sister, Peggy White. Consistently, Dan was always kind, thoughtful, and a really good person. I am so sad that the world has lost such a good person. My husband John remembers Dan fondly. Our deepest sympathy to his family.
