Kay & Reza Pakroo
Reza and I consider it a privilege to have been Margaret's friend. She was so multitalented that we were always amazed at all she did. While Reza admired her quiet, reserved demeanor, I preferred the unexpected wicked wit that lay beneath it. I can't share any memories of athletic activities with her. Reza enjoyed their tennis times, but I had so much fun with her at political events, shopping, and going out to eat. I'll never forget the shopping trip when I had some foot issue and she insisted on going to the dressing room so that she could check it out right then. I have saved everything that she wrote because in addition to everything else, she was such an accomplished writer. I looked forward to her Christmas letter every year because unlike the usual boring ones, hers were very entertaining. She really will be missed, but always remembered as a truly decent, caring, modest, fearless, super smart, and all around classy lady.

Peggy Kirkeeng and Mike Sperling and family
Dear Margaret was an icon, a role model and a very special friend and advocate for Mike and me and my family! Her talents were so numerous, from her stellar athletic acumen, to her musical pursuit of playing violin and understanding of classical music, to her incredible sense of humor -one example being her Annual Christmas Lucubration she would write, to her academic and professional achievements, to her command of the english language, just to name of few! On top of it all, she was incredibly modest, never dwelling on herself, always deflecting conversation to someone else! She was interested in a wide variety of things from speakers at UW-Milwaukee to volunteering for political campaigns, to movies, concerts and current events. At the tennis club, she was widely respected as everyone took note that someone of her age, could be that good at playing tennis!!! She had countless admirers both at the club and at triathlons...which is how I first met Margaret. At 86 years old, she insisted on loading her own bicycle rack onto the back of her car, lifting and attaching her own bicycle onto it, and meeting us in Mequon, in a designated parking lot at 4:30 AM!!!! She did not want to put us out by letting us pick her up at her house for the event!!! She then went on to swim 1/2 mile, then bike for 12 miles, then run for 3.2 miles before coming back to Milwaukee, loading her bike back up on her car, and driving back to Cedarburg! All the while, being so grateful to get to do the event together!!! Margaret will be sorely missed. As I remember her glee in the simple things like me finding a new gas cap for her car, or finding a missing piece in Spread Eagle for her mixer or helping her perfect her strokes on the tennis court, I will try to carry that same delight going forward! She once characterized my tennis ball hitting like this "When the ball bounces, you do not quite know what incendiary thing is about to happen"! I am so grateful to have had Margaret as my friend in my life, she has taught me so much about life and about how to live! I will miss her deeply.
