Passed away peacefully at home August 22, 2017 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Joan for 63 years. Loving dad of Congressman Glenn Grothman, Grant (Janine Brezovar) Grothman , Pamela (Timothy) McGuire, and Patricia (Mark) Hoggatt. Proud Boppa of Erik and Amanda Grothman, Matthew and Megan McGuire, and Emily and Katherine Hoggatt. Preceded in death by his parents Gust and Laura (nee Wiesjahn) Grothman and sister Arvilla (Roland) Wendorff. Further survived by other family and friends.

Harold was born in Portage, WI. and was a long time Thiensville resident and member of Grace Lutheran Church. He graduated from UW Madison with degrees in electrical engineering and law and was a enthusiastic member of the UW Marching Band. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Astoria. He was an attorney for many years for Globe Union, Allis Chalmers, and the State of Wisconsin. He enjoyed his time with family, his pets, and travelling. Special thanks to Shelly, Rebecca, and Amanda.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 27 at 5 PM at Grace Lutheran Church (303 Green Bay Rd, Thiensville). Visitation from 3 PM until the time of service. Memorials to the Ozaukee Humane Society or Grace Lutheran Church appreciated.
