Born to Life January 22, 1935 in Bristol, RI. Born to Eternal Life on October 30, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents Frederic A. Cornell and Marjorie V. Staples of Bristol, RI., sisters Ann (Vincent) Cullen, Mary, and Nancy Williams. Survived by his wife Mary Ann, children Robin, Catherine (Rich) Mueller, Susan Chinn, Christopher, Jeanne and Robert (Jill), 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sister Betsy (John) Chatham, and other family and friends.
Fred served in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner from 1954 – 1958, then he spent more than 50 years over the road trucking going over many roads all over the U.S. and Canada. He was a member of St. Mary’s parish for over 40 years and also did some volunteer work. Lastly, he was a member of the American Truck Historical Society Milwaukee Beer Chapter.
When his kids were young, he loved camping with his family. Later on he and his wife took many cruises especially to Alaska and Hawaii. Over the years he learned to love Sheepshead and to like a little gambling too. He, his wife and daughter had many fine road trips, which was their secret code for Ho-Chunk or Oneida.
Thank you to all of the waitresses he teased over the years in all the truck stops along the roads of the USA. And the nursed and staff at Aurora and Community Memorial Hospital who he teased and teased him back,"You Made His Day"!
Lastly, all in the last trying year, many thanks to the doctors who treated Fred, the nursing care at Community Memorial Hospital especially in the ER where he almost earned his own ER unit, (He wanted #13) Most of all thank you to the awesome Aurora Hospice nurses who guided his wife in the care of her dear Fred.
